Mary died Sseptember 5, 2011 in Atlanta, Fulton Co., GA. OBIT: Mary Sybil Dial Wallace (MiMi) passed into the arms of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, on September 9, 2011, at St Joseph's Hospital of Atlanta, Georgia. She was born on February 27, 1919, to Luther James Dial and Caro Lou Robertson Dial, (our Too-Too). Raised in Walton County, Georgia, she was well known for her high scoring basketball skills, as well as her talent in drama and musical theater. She was married to Egbert E. Wallace (Ed) on June 21,1941, and with America entering WWII, quickly became a Naval officer's wife which took her from her small town Georgia roots to Asbury Park, New Jersey, San Francisco, California, and many places before returning South to Atlanta, Georgia, where she remained a lifelong resident. She focused her considerable talents on landscape and floral design, her home and family. After she and Ed raised their children with the constant help of her wonderful mother, our Too-Too, they embarked on an exciting career in the travel industry, shepherding large groups of people wishing to visit the wonders of the world, seeing everything from Elvis Presley (Las Vegas) to the Holy Land. Always the quintessential Southern Belle, Sybil was perfect casting for the part of tour director! She was a member of St James United Methodist Church in Atlanta. She was predeceased by her parents, her two brothers, James A Dial, and Coleman Luther Dial. Her husband of fifty-six years died in April, 1997. She is survived by her two children, Vicki Wallace Blandford (Stuart) and Philip Robert Wallace (Sylvia). Grandchildren, Stuart Clarke Blandford, Jr, (Adriana) and Dr Amanda Blandford Kriegel (Noah), Mark Gregory Wallace (Madeliene) and Karin Jeanene Wallace. Great Grandchildren, Nicole Amanda Blandford (9), Courtney Caroline Blandford (7), Raleigh Rebecca Kriegel (8) and Benjamin Stuart Kriegel (5). In lieu of floral offerings donations may be made to Macular Degeneration Research at Emory University, Cancer Research, Autism Research in care of Children's Healthcare, Atlanta, or any charity of your choice. Family will receive guests at H M Patterson & Son Arlington Chapel, 173 Allen Road, Sandy Springs, Georgia on Sept 12 2011, from 5:00-8:00pm. Service to be held in the chapel on Sept 13 2011, at 2:00 o'clock pm, interment following the service at Arlington Cemetery, the Rev. She married Egbert (Ed) E. Wallace June 21,1941. Egbert was born May 9, 1911. Egbert was the son of Robert Christopher Wallace and Effie Hughes. Egbert died April 24,1997 in Atlanta, Fulton Co., GA.
