Virginia died April 24, 2010 in La Crosse, Mecklenburg Co., VA. OBIT: Mrs. Virginia Carter Thompson, age 75 of La Crosse, died Saturday, April 24, 2010. She was a retired employee of the former Wolfe’s Sales and Service in South Hill. She was the widow of Daniel Frank Thompson and was predeceased by a son Harper Edmonds. She is survived by two daughters Irene Knowles of Baldwyn, Miss. and Faye Moore of Goldsboro, NC; two sons Earle Edmonds of Henderson, NC and Gerald Edmonds of La Crosse; two sisters Myrtle Daniel of Red Oak and Betty Currin of South Hill; eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren. A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 P. M. Wednesday at Crowder-Hite-Crews Funeral Home and Crematory with interment in Oakwood Cemetery, South Hill. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 7:00 to 8:30 P. M. at the funeral home.
She married twice. She married Daniel Frank Thompson. Daniel was born June 5, 1943. Daniel was the son of Joseph Batey Thompson and Willie Lee Reese. Daniel died Decembe 29, 2001 in South Hill, Mecklenburg Co., VA. She married Darrell Vernon Edmonds April 6, 1951 in Vance Co., NC. Darrell was born July 7, 1925 in Mecklenberg Co., VA. Darrell was the son of Robert Alexander Edmonds and Annie Blanks Reese. Darrell died December 20, 2006 in South Hill, Mecklenburg Co., VA.
