He married Essie Mae Kuykendall. Essie was born November 6,1919 in Detroit, Red River Co., TX. Essie was the daughter of Charles Columbus Kuykendall and Mary Clementine Whelcher. Essie died May 18, 2013.

Archie J Smith and Essie Mae Kuykendall had the following children:
