Harold died August 30, 2002 in Albia, Monroe Co., IA. OBIT: Harold Owen "Hap" Allgood, 93, of Avery, died Friday, Aug. 30, at Oakwood Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Albia. His funeral service was this morning, Sept. 3, at Trinity United Methodist Church in Albia, the Rev. Richard Grimes and the Rev. Kevin Leveck officiating. Private family burial will be at a later date. Winfield Funeral Home in Albia is in charge of arrangements. Memorials: Avery United Methodist Church or Oakwood Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.

Hap Allgood was born Nov. 7, 1908, in Mahaska County to Ross and Mary Crane Allgood. He married Geraldine Arnold on Aug. 12, 1931. He was a farmer, and farmed in Eddyville and Bussey most of his life. He also worked for John Morrell in Ottumwa for 23 years until retiring. He and Geraldine moved to Avery in 1952. He was a member of Avery United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his wife; two sons and daughters-in-law: Jerry and Marilyn Allgood of Wichita, Kan., and Bernie and Gail Allgood of Albia; a daughter and son-in-law: Marilyn and Richard Bonnett of Grundy Center; 13 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Opal Trinkle of Monroe.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Carolyn Scala; and two brothers: Verne and Howard Allgood.

Hap was buried in the Highland Cemetery, Eddyville, Mahaska Co., IA

He married Mary Geraldine Arnold August 11, 1931 in IL. Mary was born September 9, 1913 in Cedar, Mahaska Co., IA. Mary was the daughter of Floyd Hubert Arnold and Ida Pearl Beadle. Mary died August 25, 2003 in Albia, Monroe Co., IA. OBIT- ALBIA - Geraldine Allgood, 89, of Albia, died Monday, Aug. 25, at Oakwood Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Albia. Her funeral service will be 1:30 p.m. Friday at Trinity United Methodist Church in Albia, the Rev. Richard Grimes and the Rev. Kevin Leveck officiating. Burial: 3:30 p.m. Friday in Highland Cemetery in Eddyville. Memorials: Avery United Methodist Church, or the donor's choice. Winfield Funeral Home in Albia is in charge of arrangements.

Geraldine Allgood was born Sept. 9, 1913, in Cedar to Floyd and Pearl Beadle Arnold. She graduated from Cedar High School in 1931. She married Harold O. "Hap" Allgood on Aug. 12, 1931. He died Aug. 30, 2002. She was a homemaker and a member of Avery United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday school and was church pianist for many years. She was a 4-H leader in Mahaska and Monroe counties for several years, and was former president of the Albia Garden Club. She was a former member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Farm Bureau, Albia Women's Club, Monroe County Tourism Committee and Monroe County Hospital Auxiliary in Albia.

She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law: Marilyn and Richard Bonnett of Grundy Center; two sons and daughters-in-law: Jerry and Marilyn Allgood of Wichita, Kan., and Bernie and Gail Allgood of Albia; 13 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Lorinda Powers of Largo, Fla.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a daughter, Carolyn Scala; a sister, Gertrude McBurney; and two brothers: Raymond and John Max Arnold.

She was born Sept. 9, 1913, in Cedar to Floyd and Pearl Beadle Arnold. She married Harold O. "Hap" Allgood on Aug. 12, 1931. He died Aug. 30, 2002.

Harold Owen was known by Hap by everyone that knew him. His wife always went by her middle name, Geraldine. After their marriage they farmed in the Eddyville area. They also lived and farmed in Frederick, Ia., Monroe County and Bussey, Ia. Marion County. Their last residence was on an acreage in Avery, Ia., Monroe County. They lived there just a few months short of fifty years. Harold retired after 23 years of service with John Morrell & Company in Ottumwa, Ia. Music was an important element in their lives. The Harold Allgood family formed a small orchestra with neighbors and friends and played for dances and social functions. Both Geraldine and Hap lived in the Oakwood Nursing home in Albia, Ia., Monroe County in their later years.
