He married twice. He married Mabel Arlene Bunnell 1948 in Cedar, Mahaska Co., IA. Mabel was the daughter of Alfred Lewis Bunnell and Violet Faith Moore.

17785 iii. Daniel Robert Ankeney was born in Newton, IA October 23, 1957. Daniel died Mary 23, 2004 in Norfolk, Madison Co., NE. Obit: Daniel R. Ankeney, 46, of Norfolk, Neb., died Sunday, May 23, at his home of cancer. His funeral service was 10 a.m. today, May 26, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Father Dermot Dun officiated the interment at Prospect Hill Cemetery in Norfolk. Howser-Fillmer Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be directed to The American Cancer Society/Relay For Life. Daniel Ankeney was born on Oct. 23, 1957, in Newton, .to Robert and Mabel (Bunnell) Ankeney. He graduated from Newton High School in 1976 and was the assistant manager of Earl May Garden Center in Newton. He was transferred to Boone as assistant manager for Earl May in 1977. In 1983, he was promoted to manager for Earl May in Cherokee. Dan married Cheryl Lynn Heyn on Feb. 21, 1987, in Bancroft. In 1987, he was promoted to manager of Earl May in Norfolk. He elected to go into business on his own as a franchise owner/manager for Management Recruiters International. In 2000, he began working with Basic Financial Solutions (BFS) and earned his insurance agent's license. He was very active in slow pitch softball. He played and coached for teams in Boone and Cherokee, as well as Norfolk, Neb. He also served as past president of The Norfolk Softball Association. He enjoyed genealogy and was a member of The Keo-Mah Genealogical Society of Iowa. He is survived by his wife Cheryl; a sister and brother-in-law: Carolyn and Dave Cupples of Newton; a brother and sister-in-law: David and Marilou Ankeney of Colorado Springs, Colo.; his mother and stepfather: Mabel and Eugene Daniels of Beacon; his stepmother, Berniece Ankeney of Colorado Springs, Colo.; and his mother-in-law and husband: Kathleen "Fae" and Clifford Porter of Pocahontas; his father-in-law Lawrence and wife Gail Heyn of Swea City; brother-in-law Dean and wife Melanie of Indianola; brother-in-law Scott and wife Sharon of Ramseur, N.C.; aunts and uncles; and 11 nieces and nephews. Daniel was preceded in death by his father.
