He married June Ione Hatfield 1945. June was born February 2, 1925 in Tipperary, Lucas Co., IA. June was the daughter of Lester G. Hatfield and Grace L. (___). June died December 15, 2005 in Bellevue, King Co., WA. Obit: June Ione (Hatfield), My beloved mother passed away in Bellevue, WA, on Saturday, December 15, 2007, at the age of 82. Mom was born in Tipperary, IA, in Lucas County on February 2, 1925. She grew up in Iowa, graduated from Oskaloosa HS in 1943 and attended Iowa Wesleyan College. In 1945 she married Donald Ankeney. Together they lived a military life in the USAF, spending many years of it in Arizona. Retiring in Tucson, AZ, mom was very active in the local American Legion Auxiliary. When they moved to Mesa, AZ, mom was acknowledged several times for her volunteer work at the local junior high school while her two grandchildren attended. In 2000, mom and dad moved to Washington State to be closer to their son. After my father, Donald, passed away in 2001 Mom went on to be a bright light to all she met in Washington. Mom's brother Willard Hatfield preceded her in death. Mom is survived by her only offspring John, grandchildren Jason and Trina, and great-grandson Brandon. She is also survived by her siblings in Iowa, Wilma Patrick in Eddyville, Richard Hatfield in Blakesburg and Carol Lee Hatfield in Moravia. Mom will be at rest with dad at Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent, WA.
