He married Norma A. Hamilton October 14,1939. Norma was born April 14, 1921 in Joplin, Jasper Co., MO. Norma was the daughter of Henry Hamilton and Imogene (___). Norma died January 21, 2001 in Joplin, Jasper Co., MO. Norma A. Allgood, age 79, of Joplin, passed away at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, January 21, 2001, at Spring River Christian Village after an illness.
Mrs. Allgood was born April 14, 1921, in Joplin, the daughter of the late Henry and Imogene Hamilton. She lived in the Joplin area all of her life. She worked as a seamstress for Miller Manufacturing and Elders Manufacturing and Joy Belle Dresses, retiring in 1986. She was a member of the Amalgamated clothing workers union.
She married John Allgood, October 14, 1939. He preceded her in death September 10, 1983.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Tom and Juanita Allgood and John and Connie Allgood, both of Joplin; two brothers, Bill Hamilton of Fairgroves, and Dave Hamilton of Joplin; three sisters, Eva Woolever and Virginia Lichety, both of Joplin, and Joyce Shields of Oklahoma; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Phyllis Bates; and two brothers, Virgil Hamilton and Rex Hamilton.
Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at Mason-Woodard Mortuary. Rev. Allen Brintnall will officiate. Burial will be in Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be grandsons and great-grandsons.
The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the mortuary.
Contributions may be made to the Spring River Christian Village Auxiliary.
The family will be at the home of the son, Tom Allgood, 4886 Douglas Fir Road.
Arrangements are under the direction of Mason-Woodard Mortuary.
John Junior Allgood and Norma A. Hamilton had the following children:
