Zoleita died July 13, 2004 in Joplin, Jasper Co., MO. Zoleita Irlene Allgood Stephens, age 88, of the Belle Center Community near Joplin, passed away at 12:20 a.m. Tuesday, July 13, 2004, at a local health care center after a long illness.
Born March 4, 1916, in rural Joplin, she was the daughter of the late Tom Allgood and Tencil Violet Couffer Allgood. She attended Wyandotte and Picher, Okla. schools and graduated from Picher High School. She was a rural school teacher in the Zincite Rural School District. She was secretary and treasurer of American Battery and Electrical Service. She co-owned, along with her husband, Covert Electric Machinery. She was a member of Central City Christian Church and Joplin Shrine Ladies.
On Oct. 12, 1935, she married Willis W.C. Stephens. He preceded her in death on Aug. 24, 1992.
Survivors include a son, Larry Stephens and wife, Debbie, of Joplin; a daughter, Suanne Stephens Walker and husband, Jim, of Joplin; three brothers, Thomas Allgood and Jack Allgood, both of Joplin, Virgil Allgood, of Duquesne; four sisters, Mildred Wilfley, of Joplin, Mary Lou Hudson, of Sarcoxie, Colleen Reber Black and Carolyn Pitter, both of Joplin; three grandchildren, Jami Shearhart and husband Charles, Jason Stephens and wife, Wendy, Regan Stephens and wife, Joan; five great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. A grandson, Spencer Stephens, preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 15, at Central City Christian Church. Interment will follow at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery. Family members serving as pallbearers will be Jason, Regan, Glenn, Michael and Roy Stephens, Charles Shearhart, Mike and Donny Allgood. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Parker Mortuary.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or Central City Christian Church.
She married Willis Warren Stephens October 12, 1935. Willis was born October 30, 1913 in Joplin, Jasper Co., MO. Willis died August 24, 1992 in Joplin, Jasper Co., MO. Willis is buried in the Ozark Memorial Cemetery, Jasper Co., MO
Zoleita Irene Allgood and Willis Warren Stephens had the following children:
