10639. Marion David8 Allgood (John Oscar7, Francis Marion6, Lewis W.5, Presley4, William (Pikey) Henry3, William John2, Edward1) was born in Douthatt, OK January 9, 1927. Marion died August 9, 2004 in Miami, Ottawa Co, OK. Marion David Allgood, of Commerce, Okla., died Monday, Aug. 9, 2004, at the Integris Baptist Regional Health Center of Miami after an illness. He was 77 years of age at the time of his passing.
Mr. Allgood was born Jan. 9, 1927, at Douthit, Okla., to John Oscar and Fatima Faye (Jenkins) Allgood. He was a 1946 Picher High School graduate.
He married Ramona Lea Barker on Dec. 31, 1948, at Miami, Okla. They lived in Norman, Okla., where Marion attended the University of Oklahoma on a football scholarship. After college, Marion resided in Commerce for 53 years. He worked for B.F. Goodrich Tire and Rubber Company for 36 years until his retirement in 1986. He accepted the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in 1963. He was a member of the First Christian Church of Commerce, Okla. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge No. 140 A.F.&A.M. and the American Legion Post No. 147 of Miami, Okla. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army.
Preceding him in death was his wife of 54 years, Ramona, who passed away on April 16, 2003; his parents; four brothers, Ed, Tom, John and Gene; and four sisters, Gail Keener, Theda Starling, Juanita Pearl and Geneva Skilling.
Survivors include three sons, David Allgood and wife, Brenda, of Miami, Mark Allgood and wife, Christy, of Bartlesville, Ron Allgood and wife, Shelia, of Grove; one brother, Jerry Allgood, of Commerce; one sister, Patsy Raulston, of Fort Worth, Texas; two granddaughters, Jennifer Callahan, Cassie Hester; five grandsons, Michael Allgood, Ronnie Allgood, Ryan Allgood, Nicholas Allgood and Randy Allgood.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, Aug. 11, at 10 a.m. at the Paul Thomas Funeral Home of Miami. Rev. Gene Hutchcraft and Scott Cooper will officiate. Interment will be in G.A.R. Cemetery of Miami. Pallbearers will be Randy Bates, David Tedlock, Bill Higgins, Vernon Wilson, Wesley Peterson and Merle Smith. The family will receive friends Tuesday, Agu. 10, 2004, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Miami funeral home. The Grove American Legion Ritual Team will conduct military graveside rites.
Arrangements are under the direction of Paul Thomas Funeral Home, Miami.
He married Ramona Lee Barker December 31, 1948 in Miami, Ottawa Co, OK. Ramona was born March 2, 1930 in Miami, Ottawa Co, OK. Ramona died April 16, 2003 in Commerce, Ottawa Co., OK.
Marion David Allgood and Ramona Lee Barker had the following children:
