Virgil died December 5, 2011 in Joplin, Jasper Co., MO. OBIT: Virgil L. Allgood, age 78, Joplin, passed away on Monday, Dec. 5, 2011, following an illness.
Virgil was born on April 17, 1933, near Wyandotte, Okla., the son of the late Thomas and Tencil (Cauffer) Allgood.
He served in the United States Army and was a veteran of the Korean War. He owned and operated Allgood Body Shop for 25 years, retiring in 1995.
He married Mary Lou Meyers on Jan. 29, 1960, and she survives.
Additional survivors include, one son, Michael Allgood and wife, Michelle, Webb City, Mo.; two daughters, Pam Lickteig and husband, Mark, Joplin and Pam Campbell, Joplin; two brothers, Jack Allgood, Joplin and Thomas Allgood, Joplin; three sisters, Colleen Black, Mildred Wifley and Mary Lou Hudson, all of Joplin; four grandchildren, Ashley Allgood, Carrina Lickteig, Toby Burton and Scott Burton; and four great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be 4 p.m. Thursday in Stone Cemetery. Father J.W. Stephenson will officiate. The pallbearers will be Jeremy Sloan, Jim Reynolds, Ted Shafer, Bhurle Sossamon, Dean Cloud, and George Dorsey.
He married twice. He married Mary Lou Stephenson January 29, 1960 in Joplin, Jasper Co., MO. Mary was born May 9, 1928. Mary was the daughter of Bill Stephenson and Mable (____). Mary died June 24, 2015 in Joplin, Barry Co., MO. OBIT: Mary Lou Allgood, age 87, of Joplin, Mo., passed away on Wednesday, June 24, 2015, at Freeman West Hospital, following an illness.
Mary was born on May 9, 1928, the daughter of the late Bill and Mable Stephenson. She has been a lifetime area resident. Mary worked as a bookkeeper for C.E. Reynolds Transportation, Mizzou Aviation, and Miner's Ice.
She married Virgil Allgood in January of 1959, in Joplin. He preceded her in death on Dec. 5, 2011. She was also preceded in death by one brother, John Stephenson.
Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Stone Cemetery. Pastor J.W. Stephenson will officiate. Friends may call during the mortuary's regular viewing hours.
