She married Donald Richard Griffin July 12, 1963. Donald was born December 20, 1942 in Joplin, Jasper Co., MO. Donald was the son of John Griffin and Dovey (___). Donald died December 16, 2006 in Joplin, Jasper Co., MO. Obit: Donald R. Griffin, age 63, of Joplin, passed away on Saturday, Dec. 16, 2006, at St. John’s Hospital following a brief illness.
Donald was born on Dec. 20, 1942, in Saginaw, Mo., the son of the late John and Dovey Griffin. He has been a lifetime area resident. He was a truck driver for Fleming Foods, retiring in 1994. After retirement he worked part time as a carpenter and painter. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He married Patricia Allgood on July 12, 1963. She preceded him in death on Dec. 11, 1998.
He was also preceded in death by one sister, Johnnie Casslord.
He is survived by two daughters, Donna Griffin, Joplin, and Brenda Morris and husband, Lee, Joplin; three brothers, J.D. Griffin, Republic, Mo., Paul Griffin and Bill Griffin, both of Joplin; seven sisters, Mary Seward, Webb City, Mo., Rita Berringer, Nixa, Mo., Peg Andrews, Mount Vernon, Mo., Pat Morey, Dorothy Harmon, Betty Ford and Sue Love, all of Joplin; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Mason-Woodard Mortuary & Chapel. Tony Allmoslecher, minister, will officiate. Cremation with burial of ashes in Osborne Memorial Cemetery will follow at a later date. The family will receive friends 6 to 7 p.m. Monday at the mortuary.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations to the American Diabetes and Kidney Foundation in Donald’s memory.
