Elmo died June 13, 2001 in Thomasville, Davidson Co., NC. OBIT: Elmo Sanford Allgood, 77, a resident of Memorial Park Drive, died Wednesday, June 13, 2001, at his residence.

The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 16, 2001, at First Baptist Church. The Rev. David Best will be officiating. Burial will be in Floral Garden Park Cemetery, High Point.

Members of the Elmo Allgood Sunday school class of First Baptist Church and retired school principals are asked to serve as honorary pallbearers and should be at the church Saturday by 1:30 p.m.

He was born Jan. 24, 1924, in High Point, a son of John Howard Allgood and Hazel Carter Allgood. He graduated from Alexander Wilson High School in Alamance County and served in the U.S. Navy Seabees during World War II. He earned various degrees in high education, attending High Point University, the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and Duke University. He served the public schools of North Carolina for 30 years as principal at E.M. Yoder Elementary School, Haw River School, Eastern Alamance High School and Thomasville High School. For over 40 years he had taught Sunday school, most recently at First Baptist Church in Thomasville in the class that bears his name. He was a member and deacon at First Baptist Church.

On Aug. 29, 1946, he was married to Miss Connie Thomas who survives of the home. Also surviving are three sons, David Allgood and wife, Cheryl of Wilson, Timothy Allgood and wife, Kim of Asheboro, and John Allgood of Thomasville; a sister, Mrs. Lee (Margie) Embry of Thomasville; four grandchildren, Lynn Allgood, Laura Allgood, Bailey Allgood, and Carter Allgood.

He married Connie Alfredia Thomas August 29, 1946 in High Point, Guilford Co., NC. Connie was born June 25, 1928 in High Point, Guilford Co., NC. Connie was the daughter of William Thomas and Beatrice Yates. Connie died September 17, 2010 in High Point, Guilford Co., NC. OBIT: Connie Thomas Allgood, of Asheboro, passed away on Friday, Sept. 17, 2010.

Funeral service will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Brian Gawf and the Rev. Connie Weaver officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the church and other times at the home of Timothy Allgood, 960 Edge Court, in Asheboro. Family burial will be held at Floral Garden Park Cemetery in High Point on Monday at 10 a.m.

Mrs. Allgood was born on June 25, 1928, in High Point, the daughter of William Floyd and Beatrice Yates Thomas. She was a longtime employee of the Baptist Children’s Home, where she cared for hundreds of children ranging in age from infant to 5 years. Mrs. Allgood was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Asheboro and a former member of First Baptist Church in Thomasville, where she was a choir member and Sunday school teacher. She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Elmo Sanford Allgood, and a brother Bill Thomas, of High Point.

She is survived by sons, David L. Allgood and his wife, Cheryl, of Wilson, Timothy R. Allgood and his wife, Kim, of Asheboro, John T. Allgood, of Greensboro; grandchildren, Lynn and Laura Allgood, of Wilson, Bailey and Carter Allgood, of Asheboro; sister, Daphne Jones and her husband, Lonnie, of High Point; 8 nieces and nephews.

Elmo Sanford Allgood and Connie Alfredia Thomas had the following children:
