He married Susan Annie Smith December 12, 1868 in Franklin Co., MS. Susan was born April 22, 1851 in MS. Susan was the daughter of Henry Smith and Nancy Smith. Susan died December 23, 1931 in Catahoula Parish, LA. OBIT: Mrs R. M. Smith, of Routon, Is Called to Her Reward Dec. 23

Mrs R. M. Smith, aged 80 years, died at her home in Routon on Wednesday, December 23, and was buried at the Pine Grove Cemetery on Christmas day. Rev. L. D. Posey, of Jena, conducted the funeral services.

Mrs Smith leaves a host of friends in this parish, who join the bereaved relatives in mourning their loss. She had long been a member of the Pine Grove Baptist Church and was a devoted Christian woman.

Surviving are her husband, seven children, 35 grandchildren, and 14 great grandchildren.

4188 iv. Nancy Catherine Smith was born in Lasalle Parish, LA May 6, 1876. Nancy died September 17, 1961 in Winnsboro, Franklin Parrish, LA. OBIT: Miss Smith Of Nebo Dies At Winnsboro Miss Nancy Catherine Smith, 85, a lifetime resident of Nebo died Sunday, Sept. 17 at 7 p.m. in Winnsboro. Funeral services were held Tuesday at 10 a.m. in the Pine Grove Baptist church with the Rev. Tom Ratcliff, the Rev. J.S. Jones and the Rev. Douglas Carson officiating. Burial followed in Pine Grove cemetery near Whitehall under the direction of Hixson Brothers funeral home of Jena. Survivors include one brother, Grover Smith of Nebo and two sisters, Mrs. Maude Smith of Nebo and Mrs. Mattie Garland of Pineville. Pallbearers were Willard Doughty, Woodrow Smith, Melton Smith, Huey Smith, Fred Clark and Doyle Bignar.
