Gilbert died April 3, 2007 in Springfield, Sangamon Co., IL. OBIT: Gilbert R. Allgood, 78, of Farmersville, died Tuesday, April 3, 2007, at St. John's Hospital in Springfield.
Services will be held Thursday, April 5, at 10 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church ELCA in Farmersville. Burial will be in Rovey Cemetery, Farmersville, with military graveside services conducted by the Virden American Legion. The Rev. Dr. Ken Tegtmeier will officiate.
Friends may call Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Bramley Funeral Home in Divernon or from 9 a.m. until time of service Thursday at the church.
Mr. Allgood was born April 21, 1928, at Springfield, son of the late Louis and Mary (Tomko) Allgood. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
He was employed by Freeman Coal Co. in Farmersville and retired in 1988. He farmed for Elmore Farms in Farmersville and was a member of Zion Lutheran Church ELCA of Farmersville.
Mr. Allgood married Alvina Ruzes on Aug. 21, 1954, at Farmersville. She died Dec. 14, 2002.
He leaves one son, Roger (wife Mary Lou) Allgood of Waggoner; two daughters, Shirley Allgood of Raymond and Rita (husband Jerry) Saffell of Carlinville; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are a sister, Linda Allgood of Springfield; three brothers, Gerald (wife Virginia) Allgood of Auburn, Elmer (wife Inkie) Allgood of Springfield, and David (wife Dottie) Allgood of Johnson City, TN.
He married Alvina M Ruzes August 21, 1954 in Farmersville, Montgomery Co., IL. Alvina was born January 1, 1934 in Farmersville, Montgomery Co., IL. Alvina was the daughter of Adam Ruzes and Eva Mae Brockmeyer. Alvina died December 14, 2002 in Springfield, Sangamon Co., IL. OBIT: Alvina M. Allgood, 68, of Farmersville died Saturday, Dec. 14, 2002, at St. John's Hospital. She was born Jan. 1, 1934, in Farmersville, the daughter of Adam and Eva M. Brockmeyer Ruzes. She married Gilbert . Allgood in 1954 in Farmersville. A son, Gene Allgood, preceded her in death. Mrs. Allgood was a member of Zion Lutheran Church ELCA in Farmersville. Survivors: husband, Gilbert; a son, Roger (wife, Mary Lou) Allgood of Waggoner; two daughters, Shirley Allgood of Raymond and Rita Allgood of Harvel; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a brother, Joseph Ruzes of Farmersville; a sister, Clara (husband, Jay) Downey of Farmersville; and several nieces and nephews. Services: 11 a.m. Wednesday, Zion Lutheran Church ELCA, Farmersville, Dr. Kenneth Tegtmeier officiation. Burial: Rovey Cemetery, Farmersville. Bramley Funeral Home in Divernon is in charge of arrangements.
