He married Annie F. Thaxton October 11,1911 in Halifax Co., VA. Annie was born April 23, 1892 in Baskenville, Meclenberg Co., VA. Annie was the daughter of E. L. Thaxton and U. S. (___). Annie died August 1981 in South Hill, Mecklenburg Co., VA.

Joseph Edward Allgood and Annie F. Thaxton had the following children:

10352 ii. Gladys Mae Allgood was born in Mecklenberg Co., VA February 6, 1915. Gladys died January 16, 2010 in South Hill, Mecklenburg Co., VA. OBIT: Mrs. Gladys Allgood, age 94, of South Hill, died Saturday, January 16, 2010.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William H. Andrews; and is survived by a sister-in-law, Lucy K. Allgood; two nephews, one niece, one great-nephew and three great-nieces.

Mrs. Andrews was a member of First Baptist Church and a retired technical assistant with Galeski Optical.

A graveside funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, January 18, at Oakwood Cemetery in South Hill. She married twice.

She married Oscar W. Barber June 11, 1938 in Warren Co., NC. Oscar was born June 24, 1909 in VA. Oscar was the son of William Manley Barber and Cecil Wilmarth Emerson. Oscar died November 8,1989 in Cape Coral, Lee Co., FL. She married William Hawthorne Andrews June 15,1945 in Mecklenberg Co., VA. William was born 1922. William was the son of Thomas Varn Andrews and Cornelia A. Hawthorne. William died October 3, 1946 in Farmville, Prince Edward Co., VA.

+ 10354 iv. Harold Bryant Allgood was born July 10, 1925.
