Charles died February 16, 1963. Obit: February 19,1963 Funeral services for Charles Albert (Doc) Newsome, 75,of 2608 Summerville Road, will be held at 2:00 o'clock Tuesday at the Colonial Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev V D Watson officiating. Interment will be in the Newsome Cemetery. The following will serve as pallbearers, active, Jerry Teal, Charles Cook, Larry Cook, Wilbur Bradshaw, Don Kinney and Herschel Hightower; Honorary , Lonnie Horne, A D Horne, Horace Hickman, H E Poor, Sr., J R May, Sr, John Register, Cecil Byham, Calvin Treadaway, Edgar white, Dr N S Luton, Dr Seth J Floyd, D A Ramsey, James W McGhee, W K Stillwell, Otis Richards, Carlton Richards, Ralph Miller, Frank Miller and Jimmy Putman. Survivors include three daughters, Mrs James R May, Jr; Phenix City, Mrs A D Thomas, Clarendon, Ark. and Mrs R S Cook, Decatur, Ga.; a son, A D (Pete) Newsome, Roswell, N. Mex.; three sisters, Mrs Ruth Murphy, Mrs Lillian Elkins, both of Phenix City and Mrs Josie Westbrook, Brandon, Fla.
He married Flossie Arlene Horne. Flossie was born January 1893 in Russell Co., AL. Flossie was the daughter of David Greeen Horne and Martha Missouri Gunter. Flossie died December 15, 1944 in Phenix City, Russell Co., AL.
Charles Albert (Doc) Newsome and Flossie Arlene Horne had the following children:

19435 v. Albert D. (Pete) Newsome was born April 9, 1928. Albert died June 14, 1995 in San Antonio, Bexar Co., TX. He married Nell B. (___). Nell was born September 14, 1924. Nell died July 5, 1999 in San Antonio, Bexar Co., TX.
