She married Thomas (Tom) Lamar Tew April 15, 1933 in Phenix City, Russell Co., AL. Thomas was born December 23, 1914 in Brundidge, Pike Co., AL. Thomas was the son of Silas Tew and Emma Adams. Thomas died April 12, 2004 in Phenix City, Russell Co., AL. OBIT: Thomas Lamar Tew December 23, 1914 - April 12, 2004 PHENIX CITY, AL - Thomas Lamar Tew, 89, Phenix City, died Monday, April 12 at St. Francis Hospital. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 14 at the Striffler-Hamby Mortuary Phenix City Chapel with the Reverends Ray Cummings and Al Turner officiating. Interment will be in Lakeview Memory Gardens with the grandsons serving as active pallbearers. The family will receive friends this evening from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Mr. Tew was born Dec. 23, 1914 in Pike County, Ala., son of the late Silas and Emmie Adams Tew. He was an overhauler in the card room at the Muscogee Mills where he retired after more than 50 years of service. Mr. Tew was a member of the Golden Acres Baptist Church and was an ordained Baptist deacon. He was also a member of the Muscogee Mills Retiree Club. He was preceded in death by his wife of 71 years, Ira Belle Newsome Tew and two brothers, Lee Tew and Clarence Tew. Survivors include four daughters and sons-in-law, Joyce and Elmer Baldwin of Daleville, Ala., Barbara and Jack Harrell of Jefferson, Ga., Sally and Bill Tolbert of Phenix City, Kay Cook of Lake Martin, Ala., and Clarence Cook of Opelika, Ala.; 14 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren, and a great great granddaughter, several nieces and nephews. Memorial contributions may be made to the Golden Acres Baptist Church Building Fund.
