7066. John Benjamin9 Defore (Ethel May8 Blackketter, John Wesley7, John Spencer6, Elizabeth (Betsy)5 Allgood, Ishmael4, Edward3, William2, Edward1 Algood) was born in Owen Co. IN November 22, 1908. John died August 2, 1992 in Brazil, Owen Co., IN. OBIT: John B. DeFore, 83, a resident of 1308 Pinecrest Drive, Brazil, died at 10:55 p.m. Sunday, August 2, 1992 at the Clay County, Hospital in Brazil. Born on November 22, 1908, in Owen County, he was the son of the late Frank and Ethel Blaketter DeFore. He was a 1927 graduate of the former Coal City High School; Indiana State Normal College in 1942 and received his Masters Degree at Indiana State University in 1966. He taught in elementary schools in Indiana for several years and retired in 1973 from the Federal Government where he taught in the Indian Schools in Oregon, Montana and North Carolina. He was amember of the Church of Christ at Clay City; the Masonic Lodge at Worthington, Scottish Rite at Ashville, North Carolina; Indiana Retired Teachers Associatio; and the National Wildlife Federation. Survivors include his wife, Margaretta Schafer DeFore, whom he married on August 8, 1933, in Brazil, A daughter, Joretta Roloff, Terre Haute, two sons and their spouces, Neil and Dolly DeFore, Hopkinsville, Kentucky, Steve and Rachel DeFore, Monroe, North Carolina; eight grandchildren; one great grand child; and several other relatives. Services are being held today, Wednesday, August 5, at Schoppenhorst Funeral Home in Clay City with Herbert Woollard officiating. Burial will follow in Beech Cemetery.
He married Margaretta L. Shafer August 8,1933 in Brazil, Owen Co., IN. Margaretta was born November 11, 1908. Margaretta died January 29, 1994.

17613 iii. Neil O. Defore was born in in December 9, 1936. Neil died March 27, 1996 in Hopkinsville, Christian Co., KY. He married Dolly J. (___). Dolly was born 1938.
