He married Sarah Ramsey Jackson December 24,1945 in Brookhaven, Lincoln Co., MS. Sarah was born April 4, 1916. Sarah was the daughter of George Washington Jackson and Betty Jane Rushing. Sarah died April 8, 2011 in Zetus, Lincoln Co., MS. OBIT: A private family graveside service for Sarah Jackson Newton, of Brookhaven, are 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 16, at New Prospect Baptist Church. Riverwood Family Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Newton, 85, died April 8, 2011, at her residence. She was born in Mississippi on April 4, 1926, to George Washington Jackson and Jane Rushing Jackson.
She was retired from BellSouth. She was a member of New Prospect Baptist Church.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Marshall Grover Newton; eight brothers; and four sisters.
Survivors are her sons, Daniel Jackson Newton, of Florida; her daughter, Pamela Newton Norton, of Brookhaven; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Marshall Grover Newton and Sarah Ramsey Jackson had the following children:
