Magee of Las Cruces, N.M., are 3 p.m., Saturday, May 3, at Nobles Funeral Chapel in Navasota, Texas, with burial in Odd Fellows Cemetery in Anderson, Texas. Mrs. Magee, 84, died April 24, 2003, in Las Cruces. She was born in Caseyville on Oct. 14, 1918. She was a homemaker. Preceding her in death were her husband, Richard E. Magee; and her brother, Lynwood Gaskin. Survivors are her sons, Richard E. Magee Jr., of Las Cruces, John William Magee of Magnolia, Texas, Chester Wallace Magee of Houston, Texas, and Charles Edward Magee of Las Vegas, Nevada; her daughter, Helen Townsend of Austin, Texas; her sister, Katheryn Wilson of Jackson; and 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
She married Richard (Dick) Eldridge Magee 1940. Richard was born November 6, 1916 in Washington Parish, LA. Richard was the son of John Lafayette Magee and Edith Stella Jenkins. Richard died December 26, 2000 in Anderson, Grimes Co., MS. OBIT: Services for Richard E. "Dick" Magee Sr. of Anderson, Texas, are 2 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 4, at Nobles Funeral Chapel in Navasota with burial in Odd Fellows Cemetery in Anderson. Visitation is Wednesday, Jan 3, from 3-9 p.m. at Nobles Funeral Chapel. Mr. Magee, 84, died Dec. 26, 2000, in Bryan, Texas. He was born in Brookhaven. He graduated from Mississippi State University in 1940. He was a retired executive vice president with Wyatt C. Hedrick in Houston. He was a member of the American Legion in Anderson, MENSA, Sons of Confederate Veterans, International Society for Philosophic Enquiry, and a Mason. He was a Navy veteran of WWII, with the rank of Lieutenant JG. Preceding him in death were his sisters, Marguerite Magee and Kathleen Gorenflow; and his brother, Thomas Edward Magee. Survivors are his wife, Zelda Magee of Anderson; his sons, Richard E. Magee of Las Cruces, N.M., John William Magee of Stoneham, Texas, Chester Magee of Houston, Texas, and Charles Edward Magee of Las Vegas; his daughter, Mary Helen "Susie" Townsend of Austin, Texas; his brothers, John L. Magee of California and Fred Magee of Catoosa, Okla.; his sisters, Inez Reid of Point Blank, Texas, and Jonnie Clark of Brookhaven; and 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
