He married Georgia Rae Gaskins December 24, 1939. Georgia was born September 27,1914 in Lincoln Co., MS. Georgia was the daughter of George B Gaskins and Willie Rae Higdon. Georgia died August 26, 2006 in Brookhaven, Lincoln Co., MS. OBIT: Services for Georgia Rae Gaskin Smith, of Brookhaven, are 2 p.m. Monday, Aug. 28., at Brookhaven Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Rosehill Cemetery.
Mrs. Smith, 91, died Aug. 26, 2006, at Haven Hall Nursing Home. She was born in Lincoln County on Sept. 27, 1914, to George B. Gaskin and Willie Rae Higdon Gaskin. She was a homemaker. She was a member of Southway Baptist Church. Preceding her in death were her parets; her husband, V. Ray Smith; and her brother-in-law, Jack B. Smith. Survivors are her sons, Donald Gene Smith and his wife, Rita, and Ronald D. Smith and his wife, Sanda G., all of Brookhaven; her daughter, Doris K. Fletcher, of Madison; her sister, Josey Smith, of Brookhaven; her grandchildren, Lacey Fox, of Enterprise, Ala., Brad Smith, of Birmingham, Ala, and Kevin Smith, of Hattiesburg; and two great-grandchildren, Jessica Fox and Kirsten Fox.
Venon Ray Smith and Georgia Rae Gaskins had the following children:
