Oscar died May 18, 2010 in Wesson, Copiah Co, MS. OBIT: Services for Oscar Smith, of Wesson, are 11 a.m. Friday, May 21, at Macedonia Baptist Church in Brookhaven, with burial in the church cemetery. Brookhaven Funeral Home on Natchez Drive is in charge of arrangements.
Visitation is Thursday from 5 until 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mr. Smith, 78, died May 18, 2010, at his residence. He was born in Lincoln County on Aug. 8, 1931, to Jesse Olian Smith and Rosa Smith Smith.
He was a retired carpenter, and a veteran of the United States Army, serving in the Korean War. He was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church, where he was a member of the Baptist Men's Association and Brotherhood.
Preceding him in death were his parents; his sister, Hollyce Smith; and his brothers, Wilson, William and Oris Smith.
Survivors are his wife, Lexie Smith, of Wesson; his sons and daughters-in-law, Johnny and Cindy A. Smith, Kenny and Olivia A. Smith, and Mitchell and Michele D. Smith, all of Wesson; his sister, Ida Fuller, of McComb; and his five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
His body was interred at in Macedonia Baptist Church Cemet, Brookhaven, Lincoln Co. MS.
