OBIT: Services for Thomas Jeffrey Smith of Brookhaven are April 7 at 2 p.m. at First United Methodist Church with burial in New Salem Baptist Church Cemetery in Franklin County. Mr. Smith, 32, died April 5, 1993, at Baptist Hospital in Jackson. He was born in Lincoln County on April 20, 1960, to Thomas E. Smith and Linda Lee Smith. He was a lieutenant with the Brookhaven Fire Department, where he had worked for nine years. He also served as an auxiliary deputy for the Lincoln County Sheriff's Department. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Brookhaven. Survivors are his wife, Joann Caforo Smith of Brookhaven; one son, Carl Meehan Smith of Brookhaven; one daughter, Leann Marie Smith of Brookhaven; his father, Thomas E. Smith of Brookhaven; his mother, Linda Lee Smith of Brookhaven; one brother, Todd Graham Smith of Baton Rouge, LA; and grandmother, Nellie Smith of Brookhaven.Brookhaven Funeral Home is in charge.
