He married Minnie Jean Martin 1961. Minnie was born September 1, 1942 in Wilson, Wilson Co., NC. Minnie was the daughter of Robert Lee Martin and Katherine Frances Woodard. Minnie died May 3, 2004 in New Bern, Craven Co., NC. Obit: Minnie Jean Hamm, 61, of New Bern died Monday, May 03, 2004 at her residence. Always a survivor, Jean en-dured battles with osteoporosis and most recently with cancer. Through her strong faith she endured them with dignity and grace. Her gentle spirit touched the lives of all who knew her.
Mrs. Hamm was a longtime member of Temple Baptist Church and most recently a member of First Baptist Church. Her love for children and young people enabled her to be an active volunteer at her church and schools, and to be an admired and respected substitute teacher at New Bern Senior High School. She also worked as a his-totechnician at both Lenoir Memorial Hospital and Craven Regional Medical Center. Her favorite past times were traveling and spending time with family. Jean viewed her greatest success in life as being the mother of her two daughters.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, C.H. Hamm, Jr., baby son, Claude Lambert Hamm, and her mother and father, Catherine and Robert Martin.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church with Dr. Steve Fitzgerald and Dr. Steve Cobb officiating. Interment will be at Greenleaf Memorial Park.
She is survived by two daughters, Angela Hamm Moore and husband Michael of Raleigh and Karen Hamm Wilkes and husband Billy of New Bern; two brothers, Bob Martin of High Point, NC and Alan Martin of Wilson, NC; one sister, Brenda Watson of Lucama, NC; and one granddaugther, Hannah Wilkes of New Bern.
Claude Henry Hamm JR and Minnie Jean Martin had the following children:

29876 iii. Claude Lambert Hamm was born in Wilson Co., NC March 20, 1963. Claude died February 8, 1964 in Craven Co., NC.
