Vernelle died September 7, 2007 in Henderson, Vance Co., NC.

She married Graham Jackson Owen JR. Graham was born March 1, 1925 in Vance Co., NC. Graham was the son of Graham Jackson Owen and Florence Nightingale Green. Graham died October 10, 2010 in Durham, Durham Co., NC. OBIT: Graham Jackson Owen Jr., 85, of 3945 Old Watkins Road, Oxford, N.C. died Sunday, October 10, 2010, at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Durham, N.C.

Born in Vance County, he was the son of the late Graham Jackson Owen Sr. and Florence Green Owen. He was the widower of Vernelle Renn Owen.

Mr. Owen was a retired farmer. He was a United States Navy Veteran of World War II and was a member of Rehoboth United Methodist Church.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 13, 2010 at 2:00 p.m., at Rehoboth United Methodist Church, conducted by the Rev. Josh Duckworth. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Surviving are three daughters, Betty Owen Bobbitt, and husband, Mack; Donna Owen Robinette, and husband John; and Priscilla Owen Sanford, all of Henderson; a son, Jack Owen, of Oxford, NC; three sisters, Dorothy O.

Elmore of Henderson, Nellie O. Wilkerson of Oxford, NC, and Joan O. Williamson, of Clarksville, Va.; fifteen grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Brenda Owen Nelson; two sisters, Marion O. Williamson and Christine O. Ramser; and a brother, William Owen.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m., at Flowers Funeral Home. All other times, they will receive friends at the home, 3945 Old Watkins Road, Oxford.

Serving as active pallbearers will be Tommy Bobbitt, Spot Burwell, Charlie Forsythe, Mike Breedlove, Johnny Wrenn, Hayden Roberson, Steve Clayton, Greg Wright, and J.G. Clayton.

Vernelle E. Renn and Graham Jackson Owen JR had the following children:
