George died March 7, 2002 in Springfield, Sangamon Co., IL. OBIT: - Services for George A Kruse, formerly of Litchfield, will be held at 1:30 pm Saturday in Calvert and Ferry Funeral Home, Virden, with the Rev Mark Richison officiating. Burial will be in the Virden Cemetery with military rites accorded by American Legion Post 386. Friends may call from 4 to 8 pm today in the funeral home. Mr Kruse died at 3:30 am Thursday, March 7, 2002, in St John's Hospital, Springfield. He was 72 years old on August 26, and an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. He owned an auto dealership, George Kruse, Inc, from 1958 to 1988. He went to work as a salesman for Freedom Chevrolet in Virden in 1988 and continued to work there at the time of his death. He was a member of the Union Avenue Christian church of Litchfield, former director of the Illinois New Car and Truck Dealers Association, and a former member of American Legion Post 386 of Virden. He was born in Litchfield, a son of Benjamin J and Belvia V Parrott Kruse, and graduated from Litchfield High School in 1948. He married Eilene Lowder on June 12, 1965, in Waverly; she survives. Surviving also are sons, George D Kruse and wife Carol of Girard, Daniel E Sabo of Virden, Gary E Kruse of Springfield; daughters, Cynthia H Sabo of Springfield, Kathy J Kruse of Modesto, Julie A Richison and husband Mark of Mt Carmel, Dee Kruse of Auburn; sisters, Betty M Maynard and husband Henry, Delores J Kruse all of Litchfield; and seven grandchildren. Preceding him in death were brothers, John A Kruse, James P "Rusty" Kruse, and infancy, Benjamin Kruse; sister, Charlene B Fosnaugh; and a grandson, Thomas John "TV" Quarton.
He married Eilene Lowder June 12, 1965 in Waverly, IL. Eilene was born October 10,1932 in Lowde, Sangamon co., IL. Eilene was the daughter of Everett William Lowder and Pauline E Loveless. Eilene died March 28, 2020 in Springfield, Sangamon Co., IL.
