Beverly died August 31, 2009 in Eugene, Lane Co., OR. OBIT: Beverly Rettig "Becky" Lamkins of Chatham died at 1:44 p.m. Monday, August 31, 2009, in Eugene, Ore., from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 8, 2009, at the Grand View Funeral Home in Hannibal, Mo. Pastor Jeff Chitwood will officiate. Burial will follow at the Grand View Burial Park in Hannibal.
Visitation in Springfield will be held on Monday, September 7, 2009, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Vancil Murphy Funeral Home, 437 South Grand Ave. W., Springfield, IL. Visitation in Hannibal will be on Tuesday, September 8, 2009, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the Grand View Funeral Home.
Mrs. Lamkins was born in Centerville, Iowa, the daughter of Leo McNary and Helen Neely McNary. She married Gail W. Rettig on November 13, 1955, in Hannibal; they were later divorced. She then married William Dale Lamkins on October 4, 1986, in Springfield; and he preceded her in death on October 8, 2005.
She is survived by her son, Jeffrey K. Rettig of Auburn; her daughters, Kimberly Rettig (Bruce) Patarozzi of Chatham and Kathy Lynn Wurtzler of Springfield; her stepdaughter, Carol Ann Nemecek of Springfield; and her sister, Sandra Bangert of Hannibal; 5 grandchildren, Christopher M. Stratton, Jennifer E. (Patrick) Golembeck, Rebecca E. Wurtzler, Stephanie M. Wurtzler, and John W. Rettig; 2 stepgrandchildren, Chaz Nemecek and Christopher Nemecek; and her 5 step-great-grandchildren; and special friend, Bill Dennewitz.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Gail Rettig; and her sister, Barbara Feeney.
She married twice. She married Gail W. Rettig November 13,1955 in Hannibal, Marion Co, MO. Gail was born January 23,1932. Gail died August 2, 2002 in Springfield, Sangamon Co., IL. She married William Dale Lamkins October 4, 1986 in Springfield, Sangamon Co., IL. William died October 8, 2005.
Beverly Sue McNary and Gail W. Rettig had the following children:
