Carrie was born July 26, 1909 in Forsyth Co., NC. Carrie was the daughter of Ernest Hall Stockton and Minnie Tesh. Carrie died April 12, 2007 in Winston Salem, Forsyth Co., NC. Obit: ALLGOOD Mrs. Carrie May Stockton Allgood, 97, died peacefully on Thursday, April 12, 2007, at Salemtowne, the Moravian Retirement Community. She was born July 26, 1909, in Old Salem to the Rev. Ernest Hall Stockton and Minnie Tesh Stockton. Mrs. Allgood graduated from Salem Academy and College and received her master' s degree in Romance languages from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, followed by study at the Middlebury College School of Spanish. She was a teacher of foreign languages 37 years (nine years at Salem College and 28 years for the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County public school system). Mrs. Allgood, a lifelong member of Home Moravian Church, was active in the church as long as her health allowed. She was married on June 15, 1940. to Robert McKinley Allgood, who predeceased her on July 1, 1984. She was also predeceased by her parents, two brothers and four sisters. Mrs. Allgood is survived by a sister, Gertrude Stockton Sapp; two nieces, Mary Elizabeth (Billie) Goslen and husband, Allen, of Winston-Salem and Amelia Stockton Wagner and husband, Larry, of Albemarle; four nephews, Kemp Plummer Cummings III of Pinehurst, Aubrey Eugene Sapp and wife, Pat, of Huntsville, Ala., Thomas Ernest Cummings and wife, Genevieve, of Charlotte, and Robert Andrew Sapp and wife, Jo, of Winston-Salem; and many great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews. A graveside burial service will be conducted in Salem Cemetery at 11 a.m. today, April 16, with the Rev. Dr. Gerald R. Harris and the Rev. C. Scott Venable III officiating. The family will greet friends in the Ladies Parlor of Home Moravian Church following the service. Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor' s choice. OBIT: Mr. Byron Whitman Allgood, 90, of Winston-Salem died Monday, Nov. 7, 2005, at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born March 19, 1915, in Winston-Salem to Samuel Henry and Mary Addie Hauser Allgood. Mr. Allgood was a retired pilot with the U.S. Air Force. After his retirement, he serviced and repaired weight scales. He was preceded in death by his parents and 10 brothers and sisters. He is survived by a number of nieces, nephews and cousins. A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 10, at Woodland Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 tonight, Nov. 9, at Vogler & Sons Reynolda Road Chapel.
