4583. Helen Gertrude7 Allgood (Samuel Henry6, James J.5, Henry Robert4, William (Pikey) Henry3, William John2, Edward1) was born in Moxksville, Davidson Co., NC Februay 8, 1908. Helen died February 18, 2003 in Peoria, Peoria Co., IL. OBIT: Helen G. Norman, 95, a former longtime Peorian, died at 5:20 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2003, at Washington Christian Village in Washington.
Born Feb. 8, 1908, in Winston-Salem, N.C., to Samuel H. and Mary Adelaide Allgood, she married Esker R. Norman on Nov. 8, 1924, in Mount Tabor, N.C. He died in October 1982 in Moultrie, Ga. She also was preceded in death by one granddaughter, five sisters and four brothers.
Surviving are two sons, Robert (and Donna) of Peoria and Jon of Pontoon Beach; two daughters, Helen (and Kelly) Davis of Albuquerque, N.M., and Janet Goetze of East Peoria; seven grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and one brother, Byron of WinstonSalem.
She worked at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center and the state of Illinois, retiring in 1977. She was a member of the Toastmistress Club, American Legion auxiliary and the Peoria Poetry Club, where many of her poems were published.
She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and its Altar & Rosary Society.
A funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at her church, where visitation will be one hour before services. The Rev. Francis Ryan will officiate. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery in West Peoria. Arrangements are by Wright & Salmon Mortuary.

She married Esker Rufus Norman November 8, 1924 in Mount Tabor, Forsyth Co., NC. Esker was born April 15, 1906 in Forsyth Co., NC. Esker was the son of James Rufus Norman and Emma Jemmina Dilworth.
