Johnny died September 25, 2011 in Greensboro, Guilford Co., NC. OBIT: Mr. Johnnie P. Allgood, Jr., died midday Sunday, September 25, 2011 after a long battle with Parkinson’s. He was 79 (but would not want that told). Though he was completely disabled in the last couple of years, he still looked much younger than his true age. During his disability his wife and true love, Nettie, was by his side daily. Anyone who knew them knew she was the love of his life. Johnnie passed away quickly after eating breakfast and talking with a friend.

Johnnie was born on February 13, 1932 in Winston-Salem, N.C., to the late John and Ruby Allgood. He was their only child. He attended Reynolds High School and held a BS degree from High Point University. He was a general contractor first in Winston-Salem and then in Greensboro.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 32 years, Nettie E. Allgood; two sons, Johnnie (and Minnie) Allgood of Clemmons; Tom (and Ann) Allgood of Greensboro; a daughter, Ann A. Craft (and Craig) of Clemmons; and five grandchildren; Rusty Allgood, Tom and David Allgood and Ashlyn and Morgan Craft.

The family will gather on Tuesday, September 27, 2011 for a graveside service. In lieu of flowers, you may honor Johnnie’s life with a donation to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research, Church Street Station, P.O. Box 780, New York, NY 10008-0780, or Hospice and Palliative Care of Greensboro

He married twice. He married Mary Ann McQuown. Mary was born April 8, 1934 in Winston-Salem, Forsyth Co., NC. Mary was the daughter of Otis Harold McQuown and Inza Indall. Mary died October 28, 2007 in Winston-Salem, Forsyth Co., NC. Obit: Mary Anne McQuown Allgood, 73, of Winston-Salem died Sunday, Oct. 28, 2007, at Silas Creek Manor. She was born April 8, 1934, in Winston-Salem to Otis Harold and Inza Tindall McQuown. Mary Anne was a member of the Church of Christ. Surviving are three children, Johnnie Allgood III and wife, Minnie; Anne Craft and husband Greg, all of Clemmons; and Tom Allgood and wife Ann of Greensboro; and five grandchildren, Tom Allgood Jr., David Allgood, Ashlyn Craft, Morgan Craft and Rusty Allgood. She is also survived by a sister, Dorothy McQuown of Mill Valley, Calif. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. today, Oct. 31, at Salem Funeral Home Chapel. Memorials may be made to the National Parkinson Foundation, Inc., 1501 N.W. Ninth Ave./Bob Hope Road, Miami, FL 33136-1494.
