Elsie died October 3, 2005 in Brookhaven, Lincoln Co., MS. OBIT: Services for Elsie Newton Bowman of Brookhaven were 11 a.m. Thursday at Community Funeral Services with burial in Mt. Moriah Baptist Church Cemetery. Mrs. Bowman, 85, died Oct. 3, 2005, at King's Daughters Medical Center. She was born in Brookhaven on July 8, 1920, to the late Elias Newton and Roby Algood Newton.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Herman Bowman; two sons, three brothers and a grandchild.
Survivors are her sons, Kenneth E. Bowman of Brookhaven and Richard I. Bowman of Zachary, La.; her daughter, Katrina Jackson of Brookhaven; her brothers, Sherman Newton and Roscoe Newton, both of Brookhaven; her sisters, Nora Bell West, Ella Sandidge and Kathleen Driskil, all of Brookhaven; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
She married Herman Leroy Bowman. Herman was born February 14, 1914 in Hamburg, Ashley Co., AR. Herman was the son of William Irving Bowman and Acha (Axie) Pittman. Herman died July 16, 2003 in Brookhaven, Lincoln Co., MS. OBIT: Services for Herman Lee Roy Bowman of Brookhaven are 10 a.m., Friday, July 18, at Mt. Moriah Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery. Community Funeral Services is in charge of arrangements.
Visitation is Friday from 8-10 a.m., at the church.
Mr. Bowman, 89, died July 16, 2003, at King's Daughters Medical Center. He was born in Hamburg, Ark., on Feb. 14, 1914, to William Irving Bowman and Axie Pittman Bowman.
He was owner of Bowman Barber Shop for 69 years. He served in the Marine Corps during World War II.
Preceding him in death were his parents; two sons, Clark Bowman and Herman Bowman Jr.; and a granddaughter, Jamie Gibson.
Survivors are his wife, Elsie V. Bowman; his daughter, Katrina Jackson of Brookhaven; his sons, Kenneth Bowman of Brookhaven, and Richard Bowman of Zachary, La.; his sister, Betty Ann Evans of Gretna, La; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation is Thursday from 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home Mr. Bowman, 59, died Jan. 13, 2003, at King's Daughters Medical Center. He was born in Lincoln County on Aug. 5, 1943, to Herman L. Bowman Sr. and Elsie Newton Bowman.
He was an insurance salesman with AAA Motor Club. He was a member of the Baptist faith.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his brothers, Kenneth Bowman of Brookhaven and Richard Bowman of Baton Rouge; and his sister, Katrina Jackson of Brookhaven.
