Mildred died June 28, 2001 in Brookhaven, Lincoln Co, MS. OBIT: Services for Mildred Mamie Nevels Stewart of Brookhaven are 2 p.m. Saturday, June 30, at Brookhaven Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Rosehill Cemetery.
Visitation is Friday, June 29, from 5-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mrs. Stewart, 76, died Thursday, June 28, 2001, at King's Daughters Medical Center. She was born in Lincoln County on Aug. 1, 1924, to the late Elmer and Anna Smith Nevels.
She was a retired retail clerk. She was a member of Pearlhaven Baptist Church.
Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Virgil R. Stewart; son, Sydney Stewart; three brothers; and a sister.
Survivors are her son, Virgil E. Stewart of Brookhaven; daughters, Carolyn Stewart Simoneaux of Greensboro, N.C., and Brenda Stewart Pittman of Brookhaven; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
She married Virgil Rheon Stewart May 25, 1941 in Lincoln Co., MS. Virgil was born December 29, 1921 in Kemper Co., MS. Virgil was the son of Samuel Eugene Stewart and Edith Phillips. Virgil died Apil 5, 1997 in Brookhaven, Lincoln Co., MS. Virgil and Mildred were buried in Rose Hill Cemetery, Brookhaven, Lincoln Co., MS.
Mildred Mamie Nevels and Virgil Rheon Stewart had the following children:
