Mr. Nevels, 85, died April 1, 2007, at his residence. He was born on June 2, 1921, to Elmer S. Nevels and Anna Smith Nevels. He was retired from the salvage business. He was a United States Air Force veteran of World War II. He was a Mason and a Shriner. He was a member of Pearlhaven Baptist Church in Brookhaven. Preceding him in death were his parents; his brothers, James Nevels, Paul Nevels, Donald Nevels, Robert Nevels, Ivan Nevels and Jerry Nevels; and his sisters, Mildred N. Stewart and Irene N. Price. Survivors are his wife, Audrey Keyes Nevels, of Brookhaven; his daughters, Sylvia Nevels Campbell and husband David C. Campbell, of Brookhaven, and Joyce Nevels Bullard and husband Michael A. Bullard, of Clinton; his brothers, Memphis Howard Nevels and Ralph Nevels, both of Brookhaven; his sister, Doris N. Brown, of Brookhaven; his grandchildren, Chris Campbell, Dan Campbell, Mark Bullard and John Bullard; and his great-grandchildren, Kirstie Campbell, Alyssa Campbell and Mason Bullard. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
He married Audrey Keyes June 30, 1943 in Brookhaven, Lincoln Co., MS. Audrey was born June 14, 1924 in Crystal Springs, Copiah Co., MS. Audrey was the daughter of Norman Joshua Keyes and Mary Everett (___). Audrey died November 29,2012 in Brookhaven, Lincoln Co., MS. Visitation is Friday from 5 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mrs. Nevels, 88, died Nov. 29, 2012, at King's Daughters Medical Center. She was born in Crystal Springs on June 14, 1924, to Norman Joshua Keyes and Mary Everett Keyes.
She was a member of Pearlhaven Baptist Church, where she was a Sunday school teacher and treasurer for many years. She graduated from Crystal Springs Consolidated High School in 1942. She retired from Jacobsen Manufacturing Company as a buyer, having worked there 20 years. She was a member of Brookhaven Chapter No. 1 Order of the Eastern Star and Worthy Matron in 1963. She was also a member of Five Point Club.
Her life was a shining example of her love for the Lord. She was a loving, supportive wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her stepmother, Irene W. Keyes; her husband, W.E. Nevels; and her brother, Norman Joshua Keyes Jr.
Survivors are her daughters, Sylvia Nevels Campbell and her husband, David, of Brookhaven, and Joyce Nevels Bullard and her husband, Michael, of Clinton; her grandsons, Christopher Campbell and his wife, Amy, Daniel Campbell and his wife, Misty, Mark Bullard and his wife, Jennifer, and John Bullard; her great-grandchildren, Kirstie Campbell, Alyssa Campbell, Mason Bullard and Sebastian Bullard; her sister Mildred Walker Wilson; and her brother Gerald Keyes.
She is also survived by special in-laws James and Doris Brown, Howard Nevels, Ralph and Sue Nevels, Bobbie Nevels, Hazel Keyes Carson; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Willard E. Nevels and Audrey Keyes had the following children:
