Edith died November 29, 2000 in Brookhaven, Lincoln Co., MS. OBIT: Services for Edith Irene "Girlie" Smith of Brookhaven are 2 p.m., Friday, Dec. 1, at Friendship Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery.

Visitation is Thursday, Nov. 30, from 5-9 p.m. at Brookhaven Funeral Home.

Mrs. Smith, 83, died Nov. 29, 2000, at King's Daughters Medical Center. She was born in Franklin County on July 17, 1917, to William R. Smith and Maggie Vaughn Smith. She was a homemaker. She was a member of Friendship Baptist Church.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Leroy L. Smith; her son, Roger Lee Smith; her son-in-law, Jimmy Foster; and eight brothers and one sister.

Survivors are her son and daughter-in-law, Bobby Glenn and Abigail Smith of Brookhaven; her daughter, Peggy Foster of Brookhaven; her daughter-in-law, Juanita Smith of Brookhaven; and nine grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

She married Leroy L. Smith. Leroy was born October 27, 1911 in Brookhaven, Lincoln Co., MS. Leroy was the son of Christopher Columbus Smith JR and Charlotte (Lottie) Smith. Leroy died May 22, 1986 in Brookhaven, Lincoln Co., MS.

Edith Irene Smith and Leroy L. Smith had the following children:
